A Liberating Passion
I always had a deep appreciation for Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art, but did not have the time or mindset to produce my own works until a decade ago. I began painting with the desire to capture the memories of places my family and I have had the opportunity to visit. It brings me great joy to share the uniqueness of cultural experiences through my work. In addition to our travels, through the years our family has adopted numerous pets (many rescued from shelters) and again I have attempted to capture their memory in my art. I love to be creative, and produce something unique, capturing the spirit of the subject. For this reason I tend to use bright, vivid colors. I paint with acrylic on canvas and paper. I have had my art exhibited in Arizona galleries, offices and hospitals.

About Mark's Style . . .
For self-taught American painter Mark Salevitz, painting began as a way to record his life aesthetically, but quickly morphed into a liberating passion. Kaleidoscopic, exuberant panes of color burst forth in vivid compositions, absorbing in their soft, painterly realism. Irresistibly innocent in their lush line work and curvilinear shapes, Salevitz's paintings are largely lyrically melodic reminisces of simple, yet fleetingly beautiful moments in life.
Energetically soulful in his sense of brilliant brushwork, the artist teases the modest essence of his subjects and translates it into gently exquisite beauty. Salevitz has learned his artistry from a fervent love of the people and places that surround him. "I began painting with the desire to capture the memories of places my family and I have had the opportunity to visit," he says. "It brings me great joy to share the uniqueness of cultural experiences through my work."
Mark Salevitz's works are collected throughout the United States and Europe
